Opening Day’s Just Around the Corner
Whoooo’s there?
Right now there aren’t too many souls hanging out at Chik-Wauk Museum and Nature Center, unless you count all the plastic and towel draped taxidermy. (Perhaps our dish towel covered snowy owl would be better called a dish owl?) Although it’s pretty quiet around the museum, it’s a busy place as gift shop deliveries are unpacked, exhibits uncovered, and the property tidied up for opening day.
Chik-Wauk opens for the season on Saturday May 28. You’ll find new gift shop items and a new temporary exhibit, as well as wildflowers blooming along the hiking trails and a loon nesting platform out in the Chik-Wauk bay. The new temporary exhibit will focus on telling the story of Chik-Wauk Lodge, presenting the history of the lodge building, the resort property, and the business owners over the years.
Stay tuned for news about Chik-Wauk’s naturalist program and ranger presentations. There’ll be plenty of reasons to head up to Chik-Wauk this summer. We hope to see you very soon!
