If you are out driving around looking for the elusive moose or bear keep your eyes out for the little guys they can be just as fun to see as their larger friends of the forests.
This morning driving up to the museum by the Seagull Guard Station I saw a very fat PORCUPINE on the side of the road. I have only seen a few of these animals in the past years that I have been on the trail. He was very content munching on something along side the road.
Later on in the afternoon I had some visitors mention that had just seen some river otters playing around in a bay. They had also seen the local fox that lives near Seagull Outfitters along the road watching the cars go by.
This past Sunday we had our annual Old Fashioned Pie & Ice Cream Social held up here at Chik-Wauk Museum and Nature Center. It was so nice to see so many neighbors out enjoying the festivities.
Rolf Skrien stopped by and donated to Chik-Wauk Museum a photo of himself that was taken when some of the Hamm’s Beer commercials were taken up here at Chik-Wauk Resort in the 1960’s. It was a picture of himself, Sasha the bear and Hammond. Thank you very much Rolf for the photo we have it right next to all the other Hamm’s Beer memorabilia on the mantle in the museum.
